Authenticity & Certification
Knowing What You Are Choosing
Origin
Rudraksha commonly come from Nepal, Indonesia and India. Origin influences size, surface texture and price. Ask where a bead comes from and how that is known.
Natural characteristics
Mukhi lines should run naturally from top to bottom. Watch for signs of carving, joined beads, filled cracks or artificial colouring.
Condition
Check for cracks, insect damage, or a hollow, overly light feel. Healthy beads have firm, well-defined surfaces.
Certification and documentation
Some beads come with X-ray or laboratory reports. Documentation varies in what it confirms and who issues it. Not every bead is laboratory-certified, and we will always be clear about what documentation exists for a specific bead.
Myths to approach with care
- Floating or sinking in water is not a reliable test.
- A bead rotating between copper coins is not proof of authenticity.
